Biography

Julia Draganovic is interested in new artistic strategies. German-born, independent curator and critic, now living in Italy. From January 2007 through February 2009 she was the Artistic Director of PAN | Palazzo delle Arti Napoli. She was the project leader for PAN’s partnership in the Art Radio Live project by the PS1/MoMa New York at the Venice Biennial 2007 and co-curator of PAN’s series "International Forum on Documentation and New Media Art". She curated shows for PAN at the Italian Cultural Institute in New York, the Kaohsiung Museum for Fine Arts in Taiwan and the Art Miami Video and New Media Lounge. 2005 - 2006 Artistic Director of the Chelsea Art Museum, New York. 2001 – 2006 consultant for Visual Arts for the Chiesa di San Paolo of the Province of Modena (Italy). 2000- 2004 Director for Visual Arts of the Castel of Ettersburg (Germany). 1999 - 2003 Director of the European Studio Programme of the ACC Gallery and the City of Weimar (Germany). Draganovic is the founder of the Kulturbüro LaRete in Weimar, Germany as well as the non for profit association LaRete in Modena, Italy, she curated shows in Germany, Italy, Spain, Taiwan and the United States. She is part of the juries for Premio New York and the Outdoor Gallery of the City of Gdansk, Poland. Draganovic has lectured in Europe and the United States and her essays are published in numerous catalogues and art books as well as in the Kunstzeitung, Arte e Critica and Flash Art. She received a Doctorate in History of Art, Philosophy and Literature from the Westfaelische Wilhelms Universtitaet, Munster, Germany.
